Edible Landscaping Manager Position Available

Edible Eden Baltimore Foodscapes, Baltimore’s own edible and ecological landscaping business, designs, installs and maintains edible and ecological gardens for homeowners, businesses and schools. They build beautiful raised beds as well as in-ground gardens. They plant and tend perennial edible crops including fruit trees, berry crops and more. They also install native, pollinator and other useful gardens around the Baltimore area. Edible Eden is committed to making the world a better place with every square foot we cultivate. They also offer permaculture design and educational programs and workshops around relevant subjects.

Edible Eden is seeking an Edible Landscaping Manager to join their team in early 2020. The Edible Landscaping Manager manages and implements diverse edible and ecological landscaping projects while supporting the materials management and general operations of this small green business. The ideal candidate will have experience and competency in edible and ecological landscaping, a great work ethic, a collaborative and communicative personality and be available for full time or near full time work starting no later than March 1, 2020.

Qualifications:
  • At least 3-5 years landscaping experience: You know about native and pollinator plants, soils, relevant tools and materials, have an eye for layout and are not afraid of hard work. 
  • Specialized knowledge of fruit trees, berry crops and other edible plants. You can prune fruit trees for production, tree health and aesthetics; understand different fertilization regimens and sre familiar with local pests and diseases.
  • Great communicator with positive attitude and a friendly personality.
  • Conscientious and well organized and can keep effective records and inventory.
  • Safe driving record and familiarity with trailers and safe loading practices.
  • Flexible and able to pivot and change directions without getting too stressed out.
  • Collaborative and excited to help grow a dynamic local green business.
  • Great work ethic and ability to lift over 50 lbs, dig holes in clay soil, move heavy plants etc.

Tasks include (but are not limited to):
  • Manage, implement and maintain Edible Eden’s perennials-based projects 
  • Provide expert maintenance care to fruit trees, berry crops and other perennial plants
  • Maintain meticulous records including receipts, maintenance records, pictures of work, materials inventory and more
  • Collaborate, support and communicate with other full time or pt staff on annuals gardens, build jobs and educational programs
  • Participate in design and plant selection for pollinator, native, conservation landscaping and rain garden installations
  • Clear future garden areas, lay-out and plant perennial gardens, apply compost, mulch, gravel; install small rain gardens and other ecological landscape features
  • Manage materials inventory and help improve and maintain business systems
  • Steward and grow small edible plant nursery including propagation, soil mixing, and labeling
  • Support team building and growth opportunities for the Edible Eden team and actively contribute to a collaborative and inspiring work environment
