Dual Seasonal Turf Internship at Camden Yards

Rolling Road Golf Club and Camden Yards are offering a very unique Dual Turf Internship opportunity. This internship is a 12-week program, 6 weeks at Rolling Road Golf Club and 6 weeks at Camden yards which will offer candidates a unique experience within both golf course and sports field areas of the turf industry. Commuting is convenient with only 11 miles between properties. Candidates that are ready to gain experience in multiple areas of the turf industry and are ready to take their next step should apply.

Rolling Road Golf Club was originally built in 1919 and designed by two-time British Open winner, inductee into the Worlds Golf Hall of Fame and internationally acclaimed golf course architect, Willie Park Jr. The golf course is set on 89 acers of rolling terrain in Catonsville Md. Currently the Golf Club is involved in a Master Plan to bring back the original charm from the early 1900’s.

Your RRGC Internship will cover:
  • Daily Course Set Up
  • Cultural Practices
  • Calibration of sprayers and fertilizer equipment
  • Chemical and Fertilizer Applications
  • Water management in the Mid Atlantic
  • Irrigation upkeep and repairs
  • Equipment operation
  • Working closely with Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
  • Leading small crews on golf course projects
  • Working with Equipment Manager

Being home field to the Baltimore Orioles, Oriole Park at Camden Yards is an iconic ballpark that forever changed baseball. Built in 1992 Camden Yards is located in the inner harbor area of downtown Baltimore. OPACY is host to 81 home games in a regular season as well as many extra events and concerts. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of sports turf management. 

The internship portion with the Baltimore Orioles will consist of the following:
  • Daily field preparations/set up
  • Agronomic practices: sodding, aeration, topdressing, verticuting, sweeping
  • Equipment operation
  • Small engine repair and maintenance
  • Irrigation maintenance and repair
  • Chemical and fertilizer applications
  • Data collection
  • Field construction projects
  • Maintaining Kentucky bluegrass in a transition zone
  • Water management
  • Uniforms provided
