Food Equity Council Food Recovery & Assistance Program Coordinator

The Institute for Public Health Innovation and the Prince George's County Food Equity Council are hiring a part-time Food Recovery & Assistance Program Coordinator to support the launch of a new food recovery platform in Prince George's County.

The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) is recruiting a part-time Food Equity Council Food Recovery & Assistance Program Coordinator to support the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council (FEC), an initiative housed within IPHI. FEC is a local food policy council that helps residents grow, sell, and choose healthy foods. Since 2013, the FEC has been a voice for county residents at the policymaking table. The council members and staff work closely with county leaders to find systematic and sustainable solutions to our county’s public health and economic challenges by advocating for policy that creates a more equitable local food system. FEC believes every resident, regardless of their race, class, or zip code, should be able to easily access healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate, and locally produced foods. The FEC Food Recovery & Assistance Program Coordinator works independently, with guidance, and collaboratively with the FEC Program Director to manage the communications, logistics and weekly administrative needs related to the FEC’s work. The Coordinator will also facilitate strategic planning with the FEC, identifying promising practices, strategies and implementation plans that will enhance food equity in Prince George’s County. The position requires excellent interpersonal, project management, organizational, computer, and writing skills as well as the exercise of extensive discretion, independent judgment, political acumen, and diplomacy.
