Aquarium is seeking a Conservation Community Coordinator to work closely with
the residents of local communities to 1) both encourage and ultimately engage
them in specific projects focused on improving environmental conditions within
their communities; 2) empower and train them to become leaders within their
community and stewards of the environment and; 3) connect them to opportunities
to participate in local conservation efforts at local restoration and
conservation areas.

Reporting to
the Program Lead, the Education Assistant will support youth education programs
through coordinating set-up, delivering segments of content or any other
necessary task to ensure an effective experience for learners. Tasks may
include but are not limited to: classroom instruction, auditorium
presentations, gallery and behind the scenes tours, and outreach utilizing
interactive learning, live animals, and video/written materials emphasizing
conservation action. Assists with the researching of data/programs as assigned.
Assists with classroom, props, and equipment maintenance.

Reporting
into the Program Lead, as a part of the Youth Education team, the Education
Specialist position develops curriculum and teaches a variety of education
programs to students in a variety of settings for different programs. The
Education Specialist may serve school groups, students, volunteers, teachers,
and home-school students inside the Aquarium, at schools in the region, and at
sites in the field. The Education Specialist develops and presents teacher
training and teacher orientations. The Education Specialist will support the
advancement of all Youth Education Programs and will work collaboratively to
deliver engaging, exceptional experiences to support or create hopeful
conservationists.
