Farm Credit Foundation - Scholarship Application NOW OPEN!
This year, the Foundation will be awarding at least 10 students with up to $10,000 to help them achieve their goal of working in agriculture.
The program is open to high school seniors or students currently enrolled in a trade school, college, or university who plan to work in agriculture.
To be eligible, the student must reside within Horizon Farm Credit’s footprint. Visit FCFoundationForAg.org for all eligibility requirements.

The Environmental Science and Policy Program at UMD is proud to be partnering with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Bay Advocacy Institute.
This is a new program they are launching for college students which aims to engage college students in Watershed issues and advocacy. This program provides multi-session advocacy trainings in topics including federal and state advocacy, community engagement, managing climate anxiety, and more. The program provides the participating students with a field experience led by CBF staff, a $250 stipend to support their work, and the option to pursue a certification in Bay advocacy.

Landscape Architecture Foundation Ignite - Scholarship and Cohort program
Each year, 3 students are accepted into Ignite and participate until they have completed their landscape architecture degree. Every new cohort joins the group from past years for facilitated virtual meetings and peer-to-peer mentorship. Participants are matched with a one-on-one mentor and use paid summer internships to explore different career paths within landscape architecture.
*For the 2022 and 2023 application years, eligible candidates must identify as Black/African American. This will be broadened in future years.
LAF is now accepting applications for the inaugural cohort of LAF Ignite, which begins in early 2023. Ignite is a multi-year program with three core components: an annual scholarship, summer internships, and ongoing mentorship. The mentorship component begins in Feb 2023, and the first summer internship takes place Jun-Aug 2023.
Applications are due Oct 15.

September Opportunities for Food Recovery Network
The Food Recovery Network (FRN) is a student group at the University of Maryland dedicated to packing surplus food from University diners and delivering it to community partners that provide meals for the hungry in the Washington, D.C. area. This engages a diverse array of students, staff, faculty, and administrators to build a community around the service we do, and helps to make the University of Maryland a leader in sustainability by taking a vital step towards zero waste.

AGNR Cornerstone Event - Invitation to Submit Posters and Join Student Poster Competition
On October 12, we will celebrate our college’s 4th Annual Cornerstone event, themed around our strategic initiative of Optimize Urban Environments Through Design, Green Technology, and Community Engagement.
Calls for poster submissions are now open from faculty, staff, and partners, etc. This is our collective opportunity to showcase the depth and myriad of research, Extension, and teaching being undertaken in the college. Our goal is to become the leader and first-rank resource for information and solutions to environmental and social urban sustainability problems.
Once again, we are featuring a student poster competition, a component of the program that has been very successful in years past. We hope that you will submit your posters for any research projects related to our theme of Optimizing Urban Environments and any of our Five AGNR Strategic Initiatives.
The deadline is September 30. Please submit online using this link – Poster Submission for AGNR Cornerstone Event
Important things to remember:
- Poster size should be 4ft x 4ft [48in x 48in] or smaller
- One submission only per Lead Student-Author [Faculty can submit more than one poster if they want to showcase more than one research or outreach topic.]
- Bring poster and sign-in between 7:30-9:00AM on October 12 inside the Charles Carroll Room of Stamp Union.
- Students need to be present during the Poster Session [12:30-1:30PM] to explain their project and answer questions of the Judges.
- Awards will be given at the closing session at 4:00PM. Students- Please be there!
- Remove poster only after the Event ends at 6:00PM. Please let someone know at the Poster-sign-in desk if you want us to keep your poster for you to collect later.
Posters will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Organization (Neatness, Clarity of Fonts, graphs, tables, text, etc.) = 15 points
- Clarity of Hypothesis, Objectives, Goals, etc. = 15 points
- Overall Scientific Quality (Methods, Results, Conclusions, etc.) = 40 points
- Clarity of Oral Presentation = 30 points
