The Sustainability Fund Review Committee (SFRC) reviews applications to the Sustainability Fund, which is supported by undergraduate student sustainability fees, and makes funding recommendations to the University Sustainability Council. 

We're looking for undergraduate students passionate about sustainability and eager to participate in decision-making on campus. As a committee member, responsibilities will include reviewing grant applications and sharing insights at weekly committee meetings. Omicron Delta Kappa – one of the most prestigious national societies to recognize leadership – is now

accepting applications for the Fall 2025 semester. The Sigma Circle of ODK at College Park began in 1927 and, since then, has initiated over 4,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and honorary members. ODK tapped Senator Joe Tydings in 1950 when he was playing varsity lacrosse and US Congressman Steny Hoyer in 1962 when he was SGA Vice President. ODK has also initiated other proven leaders such as Civil Rights Activist Julian Bond, Coach Brenda Frese, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The names of all of these outstanding leaders, along with many others, are engraved on the ODK Fountain on McKeldin Mall. Some of our current members include Goldwater Scholars, National

Champions, presidents and founders of many campus organizations, editors, writers, journalists, and

performers. Additionally, many of our Sigma Circle members advocate for the members of our campus

community through SGA, RHA, advisory committees, and steering groups.

ODK brings together junior, senior, and graduate students with our most outstanding faculty and staff

members, to recognize campus leaders and to encourage other students to achieve. We seek accomplished

leaders in five areas of campus community life.

Omicron Delta Kappa requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.690 for juniors (60-89

credits), 3.710 for seniors (90+ credits), and 3.800 for graduate students to be considered for membership.

• Who is DSAC?
• The Dean’s Student Advisory Council envisions an academic experience that is equitable, accessible, and of high quality for all students in AGNR. 
  
  
• What do we do?
• "The Dean’s Student Advisory Council will be a forum of and for the students of AGNR. The Council will serve the College’s student body by facilitating dialogue and relationship-building among students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Members will evaluate College and Department policies and disseminate information to students. The Council will listen to student concerns, and advocate on their behalf to the Dean’s Office and Department Chairs. As necessary and possible, the Council will unite the AGNR student body for professional and social events and causes."
  
  
• Who can join DSAC?
• Undergraduate students pursuing an AGNR major are invited to apply! The council aims to be a representation of the college's diverse student body, including members from all college departments/programs and other key student populations.
  
  
• What is the time commitment?
• Meetings: The council meets ~9 times each semester; once every two weeks (typically in the evening) with an extra meeting or two added as needed for event prep.
• Events: We host two events per semester; one is our popular Midterm Support Kit event and the other is a forum/open meeting featuring the Dean(s) of AGNR.

Join us on April 3, 2024 for the annual AGNR Discovery and Innovation Night! This signature event will bring together AGNR students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry professionals for an evening of connecting. This program will feature the student experience showcase: an opportunity for students to show off and highlight the impactful experiences they have taken advantage of outside of the classroom (think internships, study abroad, research, etc.).

AGNR Student Development Ambassador Academic Year 2023/2024

Fundraising Mission for The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) 

AGNR at the University of Maryland, has a specific department, Development/External Relations, dedicated to raising private sector dollars from individuals, corporations and foundations to provide support for the college priorities as it pertains to students, faculty/staff, and some aspects of research.  The activities to generate development revenue are focused to prospective individuals, corporations and foundations who have the propensity to support AGNR through annual and specific campaigns throughout the year.  Our results support student scholarships, clubs and programs.  In addition, funds are raised to support faculty positions and research.  Strategy for development at AGNR is donor centric and focuses on engagement and stewardship activities which provide experiences for donors and prospects to understand the needs of AGNR. 

 

Ambassador Description

Thank you for your interest in the AGNR Student Development Ambassador role.  This is a dedicated undergraduate volunteer at the University of Maryland, enrolled in AGNR. The purpose of this role is to partner with the Development Team to implement multiple strategies to inform and engage donors to contribute to AGNR’s annual giving campaign plus steward key donors on behalf of the college.  Our goal is to increase revenue to provide resources for our students. *This is an unpaid opportunity. 

 

Key Projects/Events

·       Serve as spokesperson in multiple social media channels, such as videos posted on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other fundraising platforms (ThankView and LAUNCH)

·       Serve as student spokesperson around various campaigns such as Giving Tuesday (November), UMD Giving Day (March) and annual giving

·       Serve as student speaker at the annual Dean’s Circle Luncheon (Oct.) and Celebration of Scholarships Luncheon (Feb.)

 

How will you benefit from this experience?

Baltimore Sustainability Fellowship

The Sustainability Data Fellow will be tasked with developing several tools to facilitate data visualization and resource efficiency at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The main project the role will undertake is developing a sustainability progress dashboard for the university to display energy, waste, and procurement data, among other metrics. Other projects will include a tree inventory geodatabase, a materials-sharing platform, and energy reports. The fellow will build tools to assist UMB’s Office of Sustainability in meeting the goals laid out in the 2022-2026 Sustainability Strategic Plan.

 Fall is in the air which means it is time for tailgating and football!

This year it is being held on Homecoming weekend as we welcome back AGNR Alumni and friends to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Environmental Science & Policy Program.

University Student Judiciary Application is Open

The University Student Judiciary is currently recruiting new applicants to serve on our Student Honor Council, Conduct Board, Resident Board, Appellate Board, and as Community Advocates for the University Student Conduct process. 

USJ is a student organization dedicated to promoting character, ethics, and integrity on campus by educating students about the importance of honest conduct and adjudicating student misconduct cases for the Office of Student Conduct. We were hoping that you would help us with our selections process by promoting the USJ application to your students via your listserv, social media, or any other platform that you use to communicate with your students.
