Grad CareerFestival : FREE 4-Day Virtual Career Conference

The University Career Center has partnered with the Grad CareerFestival to offer UMD students, recent grads, and alumni FREE access to a 4 day virtual career conference. 

Unsure of what you are going to do? You need to take time to explore your career options and then create a written career plan that will lead you to your dream job. Join authors and coaches to learn how to create a foundation you can launch and lead a successful career.

The Preeminent Virtual Conference for Career Minded Graduates! 
The first year out of college is critical for college students. The Grad CareerFestival is a four-day virtual event scheduled for June 25th-28th and runs from 11 am – 8 pm EDT each day, that will provide grads with the knowledge and skills they need to support their job search.  Graduates can participate in live presentations by 36 of the nation’s top career authors and 36 career coaches. 

This year’s motto focuses on the 3 P’s!
  • Plan – Graduates will learn how critically important it will be to create a career plan.
  • Prepare – Authors and coaches will help them understand how to prepare to execute their plan.
  • Play – So they can lead a successful career with plenty of time to play!

Students and new alumni can participate for FREE by logging into https://gradfest.securechkout.net/ There are four tracks grads can participate in; Career Management, Job Search, Post-Graduation Life, and Soft Skills. At the top of the hour career authors will make short (20-35 minutes) Ted-talk length presentations and offer three tips, skills, or strategies to help grads launch and lead successful careers. Following their talks there will be a short Q&A session. At twenty minutes to each hour Clifton Strengths Finder certified career coaches from Soar.com will also share three general ideas grads can implement immediately.   

The Grad CareerFestival is the largest collection of post-graduation virtual career support ever organized for college graduates. Dozens of the nation’s top career authors, career coaches, and employment industry experts will convene for this must-attend event for recent college graduates.

We are excited to announce our first celebrity guest, Annie Kneedler, a leader in corporate sector impact! Annie is a Senior Director within Cargill’s Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development team. Read Annie’s bio below and begin thinking of any questions you might want to ask her!

Annie’s career has spanned both the public and private sectors. She has been with Cargill for nearly ten years working in the Corporate Strategy & Development team and in commercial roles in the McDonald’s customer team and Cargill Animal Nutrition’s global risk management and sourcing team. Most recently, she served as the Business Operations and Supply Chain Director for the U.S. Cargill Feed and Nutrition business leading a team of 1,400 people across 60 locations. Prior to joining Cargill, Annie worked in the agriculture supply chain in Africa, first as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, then on USAID-funded projects to increase agricultural exports, and finally working in Ghana to build the policy framework and supply chain to grow horticulture exports.

Annie holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the University of Michigan.  Annie and her husband, Sam, live in Takoma Park, MD with their 2 sons, Charlie and Nicholas.
