Career and Internship Resources

AGNR in partnership with the University Career Center & The President's Promise wants to ensure that students are prepared and career ready for successful opportunities after graduation.

There are many programs, events, workshops and resources that are available to students to assist in career and professional development.

CAREER ASSISTANCE

The University Career Center has converted all in-person career advising to virtual appointments. Students should schedule individual virtual appointments through Careers4Terps.

CAREER COURSES

For some students, the most effective way to learn about career development is through  a course. We offer the following courses that address aspects of career development, internship or job search preparation.

  • EDCP108I: Academic Transition into Internships (7 - week, one-credit, online asynchronous course)

  • PSYC123: The Psychology of Getting Hired (semester long, one-credit, online asynchronous course)


CAREER EVENTS

The University Career Center organizes a variety of events -- workshops, panels, career fairs and networking events --  to help students explore careers, develop as professionals and connect with employers and alumni. A full list of events can be found on our Events Calendar.

Careers4Terps
Careers4Terps (C4T) is the Center’s primary online career management tool for University of Maryland students and alumni. Careers4Terps can be used to search for jobs and internships,schedule individual career appointments, RSVP for workshops and events, and more! Use this guide to help you get the most out of Careers4Terps!


Terp Guide

The University Career Center’s Terp Guide features how-to training, tips, and advice in a single, easy-to-use resource. It contains resume examples and articles on Internships, Networking, and LinkedIn. 


Self-Paced Resume Module

Our newly launched self-paced Resume Basics Module provides tips for crafting an effective resume in regard to both content and formatting. Through text, videos, graphics, and activities, students will learn how to tailor their resume so that they are competitive for positions of interest.


AGNR Resume Book 

In addition to the sample resumes provided by the Terp Guide, UCC @ AGNR has created a sample resume book that specifically highlights resumes for the agriculture and natural resources sector. 


Terrapins Connect

Terrapins Connect is an exclusive platform, connecting UMD students and alumni for mentoring relationships.  Search Terrapins Connect to find alumni willing to provide industry advice, interviewing tips, job shadowing and more. 

Part Time Employment & Quad Jobs

Students who are seeking part time employment on or off campus can refer to this webpage for tips about how to locate these opportunities. Additionally, UMD has a partnership with Quad Jobs, an online platform that connects students to flexible, part-time jobs.
