Master of Extension Education Information Session

 Are you interested in pursuing a Master of Extension Education? If so, join us via Zoom on April 20, 2023. The Master of Extension Education is a multi-disciplinary degree program with courses focused on the core principles of extension:

• Needs assessment
• Program development
• Program evaluation
• Social science research methodology

Students also select from a suite of supportive elective courses in a variety of extension specialty areas. Graduates from the Master of Extension Education degree program are prepared for dynamic careers in secondary and post-secondary education, non-profits, government, and leadership roles in enterprise. Ecology Plus Career Fair

We are pleased to announce the EcologyPlus Green Opportunity, Diversity Workshop and Career Fair, happening February 17, 2023. We would love for you to share this FREE event with your students and/or recent graduates interested in ecology and related environmental jobs! This event aims to recruit diverse underrepresented minorities for internships, jobs, graduate programs and fellowship opportunities. Your support to encourage attendance of diverse students will help advance our goal of creating an inclusive environmental field to address the many pressing challenges of sustainability, public health, and resilience communities face.

The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights Leadership Program

 

The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights Leadership Program (CRLP) is a free three-day academy designed to provide training and insight to emerging leaders by fostering a comprehensive and supportive educational environment wherein program participants will engage with experienced Civil Rights leaders, scholars, and practitioners in order to learn more about career paths and opportunities in the field.

 

The program will be held virtually  on March 2-5, 2023.  Topics covered will be, but not limited to:

 

·        Training on Maryland’s Anti-Discrimination Laws and MCCR Enforcement

·        Legal Overview/Investigative Practices

·        Civil Rights Career Forum

U.S. EPA: Veterans and Persons with Disabilities National Outreach Event

 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is hosting its a national outreach webinar for veterans and persons with disabilities on November 16th and 17th at 2:00 PM EST (11:00 AM, PST).

While the intended audience are veterans and persons with disabilities, the event is open to the public. Current students and alumni are invited to learn about EPA’s role in protecting human health and the environment, as well as how to apply to paid internships and recent graduate opportunities. We will provide an overview of the federal hiring process, including creating a USAJOBS profile, building a federal resume, and an opportunity to engage with employees in the field.

The Counseling Center is excited to continue offering our Wellness Workshops, occurring throughout the fall semester. Join us for any or all of our 16 skills-based workshops, such as Coping with Stress, Managing Imposter Syndrome, Conquer Procrastination Now, and many more!

Wellness Wednesdays at the Counseling Center

 

The Counseling Center is hosting drop-in virtual workshops on a wide range of topics (16 total!) to support your mental health and wellbeing. Visit our website to find out more about information, including topic descriptions, Zoom links, and workshop times.

Please know that this is a skill-building workshop and is not a therapy space. Due to the open and online nature of this support space, this workshop is not private or confidential though participants are encouraged to be respectful and mindful of each other and to practice discretion.

Advanced registration is not required. The workshops will close to new participants 15 minutes after the start of the workshop. Workshops are held only during Fall and Spring semesters and do not occur on university holidays or closures.

UMD Writing Center - Free Tutoring!

Here at the UMD Writing Center, we wanted to ensure all academic departments on campus are informed of the writing center services available to all University of Maryland, College Park undergraduate students.  The writing center tutors are trained and prepared to help students in all academic disciplines with essays, research papers, resumes, graduate school applications, grammar, and more. 

The UMD Writing Center offers three types of free tutoring: in-person, live online, and 24-hour-later feedback.

The Writing Center is for student-writers at any stage of the writing process, from early brainstorming to a polished draft. Regardless of your skill level or academic discipline, the writing center is an excellent resource for you.
