The Position
Residential Landscape Designer Full Time Landscape Designer will work in conjunction with Landscape Architect Bernie Mihm, founder and co-owner of the company. Bernie is a Licensed Landscape Architect, an ISA Certified Arborist, and has over 40 years of experience. Landscape Designer will help develop plans and cost estimates for a wide variety of residential landscape projects. Projects range from small pruning jobs for previous clients to large hardscape projects worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Client meetings, site inventory and analysis, concept development and even help with ordering specialty items are all part of this varied position. Landscape Designer will also visit ongoing projects. Currently we use Dynascape CAD program so experience with this program or ability to learn is a big plus. Some hand drafting/sketching will definitely be needed. Landscape Designer will help maintain existing client base on both small and large projects. I would like to hire someone who will eventually be able to be the first point of contact with selected clients and referrals. Designer must be willing to accommodate the seasonal nature of the work. April May June are extremely busy. November December January March are much easier
Salary Open to negotiation but I am leaning to the $50,000 per year range for an experienced person. Although there is never a guarantee of advancement, the goal is for the Landscape Designer to advance. Our experienced senior designers generally make over 100K annually, depending upon their production. There is no limit to earnings for a long-time person who is willing to work hard and provide excellent service to the clients.
Vacation and Holiday benefits are standard for full time.

Health Insurance PPO. Full Time. This is not an HMO. You can choose your own doctor and do not have to go through an insurance company gatekeeper to see a specialist. Fine Earth pays 90 per cent of employee coverage and a percentage of family coverage. The principals’ and their families are all on this plan.

Stable and successful management. Fine Earth Landscape Inc. has been in business over 40 years. Fine Earth won its first Excellence in Landscaping award in 1981. A select few companies have been so successful over that time period. Fine Earth’s annual revenues are in the ten-million-dollar range and we employ 20 crews of 3 men each, eight to ten office and sales staff and two full time mechanics.

Pride in reputation and client relationships. Fine Earth does just about anything in order to be certain that each client is satisfied and is a future referral. Fine Earth Landscape obtains over 90 per cent of its work from previous clients and referrals from those clients.
Financial stability. All of our suppliers and subcontractor will say that no company pays faster than Fine Earth. This insures that the subcontractors will put us at the top of their list in scheduling and pricing.
Employee longevity. Our key employees, including the crew foremen, have been with us for many years. Office manager 30 years. Senior Designer 20 years. Landscape Production Manager 20 years. Even most of our job foreman have been here for 15 to 20 years.
