Koiner Farm is Montgomery County's only urban farm. This one-acre farm has been in operation in downtown Silver Spring since 1979, but recently lost its head farmer, Mr. Charles Koiner (read Charlie's tribute here). Charlie preserved and cared for this coveted plot of land for nearly 40 years and now it is up to the next generation of urban farmers to follow in his footsteps. We are hopeful that UMD's Ag students will embrace this opportunity.
