Hog Haven Farmers Market Part Time Job
Hog Haven is a pasture-raised, heritage hog farm in western Goochland County, VA, who sells pork by the pound and hot food featuring the pork they raise. They are lookin g for help at farmers' market booths all around the DMV on weekend mornings. Help them sell local food that is better for the environment, better for the animals, and tastes better! Hog Haven needs both cooks and 'front booth' sales people. Preferably those who are comfortable with both.
This a part-time weekend job, 5 to 15 hours a week. Some markets start as early as 7am, rain or shine! Pay is based on an hourly rate, with opportunity for tips and bonuses. Reliable transportation required. A larger vehicle and a willingness to transport supplies to the market occasionally is not an absolute necessity, but is a major plus.
Note, that there is some training required and we are looking for applicants that are looking for a long-term, part-time position (at least through one market season). We are also growing rapidly and more full-time and/or management positions may be available soon. As a grassroots environmental nonprofit, the Maryland Sierra Club offers many internship opportunities for those passionate about advocating for a safer, healthier planet. At our office conveniently located on Route 1, students can take advantage of diverse openings in office management & administration, outdoor education, political environmental advocacy, communications & marketing, web design, community organizing, event planning, and policy research.
Our interns become part of the office team and are essential to accomplishing many of the Chapter’s environmental conservation goals. Working side by side with staff and lead volunteers, interns get the opportunity to see how a grassroots nonprofit works, gain valuable real world experience, and become the next generation of activist leaders.

Grey to Green, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Conference
On October 29-30, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities will be hosting our Grey to Green: DC Metro Region Conference in Silver Spring, MD. Grey to Green will focus on design, research and policy trends within the green roof and wall industry and bring together a variety of professionals.

Donald Payne International Development Fellowship
Donald Payne International Development Fellowship | Now Accepting Applications
The Donald Payne International Development Fellowship is now accepting applications for the 2020 Fellow Cohort! The Payne Fellowship is a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Program, administered by Howard University, which seeks to attract and prepare outstanding individuals for careers as USAID Foreign Service Officers. Candidates can be graduating seniors or college graduates with strong academic records and a desire to promote positive change in the world. The Payne program encourages the application of members of historically underrepresented groups in the Foreign Service and those with financial need. Selected fellows will receive support for graduate school and gain employment with USAID in an exciting and rewarding career in the Foreign Service.
Program Benefits
- An orientation to the Program and the Foreign Service at Howard University in Washington, D.C. in late spring 2020
- Two summer internships, one on Capitol Hill in summer 2020 and one overseas at a USAID Mission in summer 2021.
- Up to $22,000 annually toward tuition, fees and living expenses for a two-year master’s degree in fields related to the Foreign Service such as development, economics, public administration, business administration, global health, agriculture, or environmental science at a U.S.-based institution.

The U. S. National Park Service (NPS) National Capital Region (NCR), Office of Natural Resources and Science (NRS) is seeking to fill paid internship positions. Interns will work closely with the NPS Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance’s Science Education Coordinator.
UERLA is a National Park Service Research Learning Center that serves 16 parks in National Capital Region. They translate complex research results into readily understandable information, providing research, education, and technical assistance for parks. UERLA also provides science communication outreach to park managers and external audiences via websites, workshops, and publications. UERLA maintains research and education partnerships with universities, not-for- profit, education, and other federal agencies. The education activities of UERLA include providing training opportunities for NPS staff and partners, participating in science education programs, and building external partnerships that support science education in parks. Within the Natural Resources and Science Office, other science programs, such as botany, wildlife, geology, air resources, and inventory and monitoring, aquatic ecology work with the Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance on interdisciplinary projects.
Students must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Maryland. The positions are University of Maryland paid internships. Students should consult with their academic advisor to determine if they can also receive academic credit for their internship.

All web building will occur within this CMS which predetermines many of the parameters as well as the style and graphic identity of pages that can be created, yet there is still room for elegant solutions within CMS constraints. The intern may also assist with cataloging and improving access to scientific and scholarly reports and related products that were produced by and for the National Parks of the National Capital Region. We anticipate that the internship will begin in September of 2019 and continue through May of 2020 as funding and student interest allow. Students must be enrolled in a degree program for the duration of the internship. The intern should have access to dependable transportation and be able to navigate to NCR NPS properties.

Position description
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a Media Engagement Intern to provide crucial support in communicating innovative research on development issues.
IFPRI is a non-profit, apolitical research organization providing evidence-based policy solutions to sustainably reduce poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, and improve welfare across the developing world. The successful candidate will help the media team spotlight and disseminate our best and most salient work through our social media channels, our blog, and our relationships with external news media outlets so that insightful research can inform meaningful policy changes towards realizing our vision of a world free from hunger and poverty.
To achieve these goals, the intern will: draft dynamic content for our website and blog based on our most relevant research and events; generate ideas and content for social media campaigns across various social media platforms; identify journalists across the globe for IFPRI to engage with; regularly track and report on our media presence; and analyze web data to assess the success of specific strategies and campaigns. Excellent writing and analytical skills are a must, as well as an ability to translate academic content for a general audience.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about international development, social policy, or how ideas and research can stimulate change. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- The intern must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university, or have graduated from such a program in the past 12 months
- Excellent writing and an ability to create succinct summaries of news reports and research publications
- Exceptional organization skills
- International experience in the developing world is a plus
