The 2020 Harvard Forest Summer Research Program is now accepting applications from a diverse group of undergraduate students to join an immersive research experience. This 11-week paid residential internship (May 18 - July 31, 2020) is located at Harvard’s world-class ecological research hub in Petersham, Massachusetts. The program seeks to support students in conducting research and building their careers through Research, Education, and Community. Amgen Scholars Program at UCLA
The Amgen Scholars
Program provides summer research experiences at 13 institutions across the
country for students interested in pursuing Ph.D.’s and, eventually, a career
in science. Students interested in summer research in any area of biomedical
science, chemistry, bioengineering or chemical engineering are encouraged to
apply.

During the summer of 2020, UCLA will host 16
Amgen Scholars: 3 undergraduates from UCLA and 13 from other U.S. colleges
and universities. Amgen Scholars will participate in research projects,
attend scientific seminars, and work under some of the nation’s top academic
scientists. The Amgen Scholars Program at UCLA also includes a $4000
stipend, housing and some meals provided, a three-day Biotechnology Conference
in Los Angeles, GRE preparation course, luncheons with faculty, workshops,
scientific writing instruction, seminars, and poster presentations.

Apply for the Joseph M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Award
Resident Life is currently accepting applications and nominations for the Joseph M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Award. Applications and nominations for the 2020-2021 academic year are due March 22, 2020. All University Graduate and Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Faculty, staff, and members of the campus community are welcome to nominate deserving students of this award.
The scholarship award was established in recognition of Joe Mitchell's compassion for the less fortunate members of our society and in honor of his ability to befriend, guide and mentor individuals whose ability to succeed as students at our institution was challenged by some personal or family circumstances. Scholarships will be awarded each fall and spring semester to one or more deserving students. These are one-time awards of up to $2,000 per recipient. Agriculture Volunteers work with small-scale farmers to prevent soil erosion, reduce the use of harmful pesticides, and replenish the soil. They also work on integrated projects that often combine vegetable gardening, livestock management, agroforestry and nutrition education. Environment Volunteers lead grassroots efforts to teach environmental awareness in schools and local organizations and address environmental degradation by promoting sustainable use of natural resources.

They grow Certified Organic seasonal vegetable crops on 2 acres, including two 3,000 square foot high tunnels, and manage 3-4 acres of soil-building cover crops. EACE Winter Road Trips
Got winter break plans? Participate in EACE’s Road Trips to the Real World! Road Trips offers college students the opportunity to attend employer site visits for ONE DAY between January 6-17, 2020. Host companies will talk about their organization, industry, internships, and job opportunities. This event is open to students of all class years. This is your chance to get the inside scoop and literally get your foot in the door at nearly 30 participating employers…BUT space is limited and spots fill up VERY quickly, so register now!

At each site, you will get an in-depth look at how the company operates and see firsthand the potential internships and jobs that are available. You will also network with employers and get a head start on your career planning. This is an opportunity you do not want to miss!
The Road Trips cost $10.00 per site and are non-refundable. Students can sign up for a maximum of 5 site visits as long as they do not conflict on the same day or time. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the site, and are responsible for any incidental expenses they may incur.

US Fish and Wildlife Service Fellowship
The U.S Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) will collaborate with multiple conservation partner organizations to assist with recruitment and administration of over 100 fellowship opportunities for the Directorate Resource Assistant Fellows Program (DFP). The DFP is an 11-week fellowship working on projects that support FWS conservation priorities. The 11-week fellowships begin in mid-May/mid-June 2020 and end in August/September 2020. Eligible students who are pursuing degrees in biological science and/or natural resources management will possess the desired qualifications for the 2020 DFP.
