Student Trainee (Biological Sciences)
The incumbent will be part of the Pathways Internship Program as a Student Trainee (Biological Sciences) with the USDA's Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is a multi-faceted Programs, in Beltsville, MD. This program is designed to provide students enrolled in a variety of educational institutions from high school to graduate level with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school.
Responsibilities
The duties described are for the full-performance level. The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Works with animal pathogens and Agricultural Select Agents in support of animal health programs.
Works in preparation and response for nationwide animal or plant health emergencies, regulation of plant and animal imports and exports.
Conducts duties to promote the regulation of genetically modified organics and facilitates the safe and innovative use of biotechnology.
Students who are currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program.
Preferred fields of study: Agricultural Science, Plant Pathology, Biology, or a closely related field.
