Waverly Farm is a wholesale grower of premium quality B & B, landscape-size ornamental trees & shrubs in Adamstown, MD. We have over 400 varieties in production, featuring hollies, boxwoods, lilacs, viburnums, and many more. We sell only to the wholesale trade and are looking for a driven, self-starter to join our team. Current duties are listed below, however the position may evolve to fit the company and individual.
Job Type: Full-time M-F
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain trust-based professional relationships
Demonstrate role model behavior for ethics and integrity as well as positively promoting a company
culture of teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation.
Assist customers with questions and orders
Perform weekly payroll and daily bookkeeping functions
Manage accounts payable including follow up on delinquent accounts
Maintain recordkeeping for H2A workers and crop insurance
Create plant tags and tag customer orders
Work with a team to take and record inventory of 200 acres of field production plants
Deliver timely and accurate reports
Attend an overnight trade show in January for 3 days in Baltimore
Update database as required
Requirements:
Comfortable working in an indoor and outdoor environment
Proficiency leveraging technology/software, experience with QuickBooks is a plus
Basic knowledge of trees and shrubs, experience in or a degree in horticulture preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
High level of organization and attention to detail
Effective problem solving skills
Understanding that the happiness of our clients and team members is our number one goal
Able to take direction and show initiative and wear many hats
Team-oriented mentality
Excellent customer service skills and experience
Must love dogs and cats
