Aquaponic farming is a method of growing plants and fish in a connected system. 

 

By participating in this training, you will learn 

· how to construct and maintain aquaponic systems

· how to monitor water quality

· how to manage plant nutrients

· how to navigate permits and regulations

 

You will meet for 4 online classes each year, lasting about 2 hours per class, totaling up to 24 hours of online classes over the course of the project. You will also spend up to ten days (up to 8 hrs per day) each year participating in hands-on training on farms in College Park, MD; Gaithersburg, MD; and Frederick, MD. This totals to 30 days or 240 hours of in person training over three years. 

 

Participation is open to adults (18 years or older) who are interested in aquaponic farming methods. If we reach the maximum capacity of the course, we will prioritize applicants who have some farming experience.
