 Organizational Background

The mission of the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) is to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems. OFRF envisions a future where organic farming is the leading form of agriculture. Our goal is to broaden access to and involvement in our programs; working toward greater equity in our food and agriculture systems overall. Since its founding in 1990, OFRF has sponsored organic farming research, education, and outreach to support organic and transitioning farmers across North America. This work is complemented by efforts to share our findings with policy makers, agricultural institutions, and federal agencies to support broader change and advance the organic sector. 

Position Overview

The Organic Farming Research Foundation is seeking a temporary remote intern to work a minimum of 150 hours over 12 or more weeks during the Summer 2024 semester. Candidates located close to Washington, D.C. are preferred, but it is not required for this position.

The Policy and Advocacy Intern will help in both developing and implementing OFRF’s advocacy strategies related to the Congressional Appropriations process, the Farm Bill, and agency engagement. All of these strategies are intended to support OFRF’s ultimate mission of expanding and improving the organic method of production. This internship may be altered depending on the candidate’s background and interests. The Policy and Advocacy Intern reports to the Senior Policy and Programs Manager.

OFRF supports historically underserved and represented students that are interested in exploring career pathways in the organic industry through paid internships and encourages all candidates to apply.

Compensation

You will receive a minimum stipend of $2,500 for at least 150 hours of work over a 12+ week period. You will be paid bi-weekly. Interns are not eligible for benefits.
