The Town & Country Garden Club of Hagerstown, MD, has established an annual scholarship to contribute to the ongoing education of deserving students. The scholarship can be used for tuition or tuition-related fees.
Those eligible to apply include:
A graduating Washington County high school student who will be entering a college, university, or institution of higher education with a major in horticulture, agriculture, landscape design, or related field.
A Washington County resident enrolled in a degree or certificate program at a college, university, or institution of higher education with a major in horticulture, agriculture, landscape design, or related field.
A previous recipient of a Town & Country Garden Club scholarship who is continuing his/her education in a major as outlined above and who has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applicants must complete the attached application and include:
A completed essay of 500-750 words (12-point font) that describes: 1) the applicant’s most meaningful achievements and how they relate to the planned field of study and future career goals, and 2) how this scholarship will assist in achieving those goals.
A recommendation from a teacher or advisor describing the applicant’s abilities and qualifications.
A copy of the Applicant’s most recent academic transcript.
Two scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded based on experience/interest in the areas noted above, as well as the student’s scholastic record and the accompanying recommendation. Email completed applications (application, essay recommendation, and a copy of the student’s most recent transcript) to kmoliver12@aol.com no later than 11:59 pm on Friday, April 11, 2025. Only fully completed applications will be considered.

Prior to the award of the scholarship, please submit verification of college acceptance/enrollment from the Institution the student either plans to attend or is attending and a recent photograph to accompany a planned press release.
