The Green Education Fund
Starting in the Spring 2026 semester, DIS is offering new need-based green scholarships that support students who are passionate about sustainability-related topics and would benefit from financial assistance to participate in a DIS program. It’s a great opportunity for students whose academic interests align with environmental and social responsibility. DIS is planning to offer ten $10,000 awards per semester.Fully-Funded Arctic Summer Program in Greenland
In Summer 2026, DIS is launching a fully-funded, credit-bearing study abroad experience in Greenland. This 6-week, 6-credit program is designed for students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in study abroad and will explore themes of Arctic sustainability, environmental justice, and cross-cultural exchange. It will be competitive, but I'd love to see a UMD student apply for this incredible opportunity!
Both initiatives reflect DIS’s ongoing sustainability vision and their dedication to creating inclusive, impactful study abroad experiences. You can read more on DIS’s Sustainability Vision page.
