JIFSAN: Food Safety & Applied Nutrition Internships

JIFSAN Now Accepting Applications for 2026-27 Internship Projects

Eligible University of Maryland, College Park undergraduates are invited to complete and submit applications for the JIFSAN Internship Program’s 2026-27 cohort. Projects range in area and focus—biological sciences, chemistry, nutritional sciences, as well as public health—and enable students to receive firsthand training and experience in food safety and public health careers.

Internships begin in the summer and run for one full academic year, ending in the spring, with the ability to possibly be renewed thereafter based upon project availability, good academic standing, mentor recommendation, and available funding.

For more information, you may visit our Internship Program page or write to jifsan@umd.edu with any questions. JIFSAN is excited to welcome more outstanding students to this program, joining a cadre of over 400 alumni who have completed significant work for the University of Maryland and the U.S. FDA.
