Participate in a Food Choice Study and Earn a Free Meal!

Patricia Powell is a PhD candidate with The University of Queensland, School of Public Health in Australia, and she is currently working with the University of Maryland to research decision-making and food choice in young adults in the United States of America.

The research team is recruiting approximately twenty students aged 18-24 years to participate in focus groups discussing lunch in the South Campus dining hall. The purpose is to discuss the foods students choose to eat at the dining hall and particularly, what students find appealing about choosing those foods. The focus group will take approximately 75-minutes. Each participant is welcome to dine in the dining hall after the focus group, at no charge. Interested students must email patricia.powell@uqconnect.edu.au with their intent to attend so that they can ensure they have the right number of participants for each session (sessions without confirmed participants will be rescheduled). They are offering sessions on the following dates:
  • Monday 9 March 4.45pm-6pm
  • Tuesday 10 March 4.45pm-6pm
  • Thursday 12 March 4.45pm-6pm
  • Monday 16 March 4.45pm-6pm
  • Tuesday 17 March 4.45pm-6pm
Sessions will be held at South Campus Dining Hall (back room in the rotunda).

This study adheres to the Guidelines of the ethical review process of The University of Queensland and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and was accepted as low or negligible risk by the University of Queensland’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
