Deep Creek Lavender Farm Intern

Deep Creek Lavender Farm is a small farm located in Accident, Maryland just a few miles from Deep Creek Lake. Focusing on agritourism, Deep Creek Lavender Farm is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through the summer and daily for three weeks during the lavender bloom. The farm has nearly 1500 lavender plants, flower gardens, sunflowers, hops, chickens, bees and more for visitors to see and learn. The farm also has a farm store focusing on lavender-based products, various classes and events, weekly yoga and more. We are close to Deep Creek Lake for boating, swimming, fishing. In addition, the county is filled with great hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and other outdoor activities. The towns of Accident, Friendsville and McHenry have a great local foods vibe with Moon Shadow CafĂ©, Firefly Farms, and Friendsville Pub restaurants. In addition, the farm is 50 minutes from Morgantown, WV the home of West Virginia University. Our town has a very small-town vibe. If you are a super social person who loves to bar hop, go to music venues, and meet with lots of friends, this internship may not be for you. However, if you love farming, the outdoors, hiking, picnics, meeting at small cafes for lunch or coffee, watching movies, quieter activities – this is your kind of place. The internship will run from end of May through mid-August. The intern will work 25-40 hours per week with two weekdays off per week. The intern must work the days the farm is open unless agreed to ahead of time. The stipend for the summer is approximately $2800 and housing is provided. You are welcome to have friend(s) come to stay on your days off! We encourage both male and female students to apply. We hope to learn as much from our intern as we teach about lavender, agritourism, business management, networking, marketing, customer service, farming and more.

Duties of the internship will include any of the following:

Using social media effectively to get the word out about the farm/events

Operating the tractor (we will teach you)
