FoodCorps

 What is FoodCorps?

We're a national nonprofit empowering kids to thrive through nourishing food and food eduction. Our members spend 11 months teaching kids about gardening and nutrition, supporting school cafeterias, and collaborating with educators to create environments where fresh, nourishing food is the norm.

The Role:
Here’s what students can look forward to as FoodCorps AmeriCorps members in DC:

Food Education Members focus on teaching kids about gardening, nutrition, and food systems. They maintain school gardens, lead classroom lessons, and inspire a love for fresh, nourishing food through hands-on activities.

School Nutrition Members collaborate with school cafeteria teams to improve access to nourishing food. They lead taste tests, support cafeteria staff, and help create welcoming spaces for students to enjoy meals.

Professional growth: Gaining experience in education, public health, and leadership while working closely with community partners.

Supportive benefits: A $33,000 stipend for 11 months, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), and an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon completing service.
